Oracle CloudWorld: The Rise of Data-as-a-Service

Oracle processes 23 billion transactions per month, it is also betting that by being able to deliver a unified business process experience it will soon be the largest cloud provider. Of course, all its major rivals have similar sets of ambitions, so it remains to be seen who will win the next major battle in the cloud. Who do you think will win the cloud battle?

The Oracle cloud strategy is focused on making available multiple layers of services. At its core is a set of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offerings based on x86 and Sparc processors. On top of that Oracle is also making available a wide range of platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offerings based on the Oracle WebLogic application server and variety of database-as-a-service options. Finally, Oracle now has a portfolio of 600 software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications that encompass almost every type of business process.
